Rahul Gandhi: Farmers’ Hope – Paanch Kisaan Nyay

Today marked the 61st day of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which commenced in Nashik, Maharashtra. Congress leader and leader of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, Rahul Gandhi, convened a meeting with farmers in Chandvad, Nashik. Maharashtra leader Sharad Pawar also joined the rally to stand in solidarity with the farmers in their struggle against injustice. Alongside NCP (SP) President Sharad Pawar, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut also participated in the event. After a warm welcome organized by local Congress leaders for Rahul Gandhi, Sharad Pawar, and Sanjay Raut, Rahul Gandhi addressed the gathered farmers.

During his address, Rahul Gandhi stated, ‘The foremost issue here is the price of onions. There is no debate about it in the national media. The media ignores the most significant issues of the nation – the issues of farmers, inflation, and unemployment. Instead, they focus on Modi for 24 hours, they focus on Bollywood. The media’s role is to divert the attention of the people and the youth of the country. They do this at the behest of 20-25 big industrialists of India. In the last ten years, Modi’s government has waived a debt of ₹16 lakh crore for 20-25 big industrialists. They brought three laws. Today, farmers are standing in Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan, they have been on the borders of Delhi for a month. But your one rupee is not waived, ₹16 lakh crore of industrialists is waived. During the UPA government, we waived off nearly ₹70,000 crore of farmers’ debt. It means, what we did once, needs to be done 24 times to reach parity. The amount of money possessed by 70 crore people in India is the same amount possessed by 22 people in the country.’

He continued, ‘You are being hurt from all sides. You are not given the right price. If there’s a loss, insurance money is not given. GST has been imposed. The debt is not waived. So, if I say that we will do something for you and your problem will be solved, that would be wrong.’

The Congress leader then announced five historic Kisaan Nyay guarantees to end injustice for farmers and their families. He said, ‘Since you are surrounded from all sides, the medicine will also be applied from all sides. Therefore, we have brought five different medicines.’

  1. Sahi Daam: MSP will be given legal status. A special law to this effect will be passed in Parliament. MSP will be set in accordance with the Dr. M.S. Swaminathan Commission formula
  1. Karza Maafi: A Standing Farm Loan Waiver Commission will be set up to waive loans of farmers and determine the amount of the loan waiver that is required
  1. Bima Suraksha: The PM Fasal Bima Yojana will be redesigned to guarantee payment to farmers, within 30 days of crop loss, directly into the bank account.
  1. Import Export Policy: Congress will formulate and implement an import-export policy for agricultural commodities, which will give paramount importance to protecting the interests and concerns of farmers. It will be stable and predictable and based on farmer interests.
  1. GST Mukti: Farmers will be GST-mukt. The GST regime will be amended to get rid of taxation on agricultural materials

All these actions are to help you. Until a person understands the suffering of the farmer, and respects the hard work of the farmer, he cannot help the farmer. Our doors, whether it’s the government of Maharashtra or Delhi, will always remain open for you. And you will feel that in Delhi, there is a government that listens to the voices of farmers and works to protect them.’

Rahul Gandhi didn’t stop there. He continued, ‘The soldier protects the country at the border. There, they have implemented Agniveer. They have created two types of martyrs. Agniveer will receive 6 months of training. A Chinese soldier will receive 3-4 years of training. Agniveer will not receive a pension, canteen, or the title of martyr. Agniveer weakened the army. If a soldier protects us at the border, you protect us within the country. Therefore, it becomes the duty of the government to protect both the soldier and the farmer. Because the country cannot function without farmers. Therefore, I am saying from the heart, whenever you need it, our doors, the doors of the government, will always be open for you.’

After this, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra continued. Rahul Gandhi started his roadshow again and addressed the people in Nashik before the lunch break. In his address, the Congress leader once again talked to the people about the fight against injustice and highlighted social, economic, and participatory justice. He spoke of the injustice done to the people by the government. He discussed these issues with the audience.

Then, the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra proceeded towards Trimbakeshwar. Here, the Congress leader performed puja and prayed for the well-being of the people of the country. After the prayer in the temple, the yatra headed towards Palghar for the night’s rest.

“Any individual in the country who feels subjected to injustice, experiencing any form of unfair treatment, holds the potential to transform into a Nyay Yoddha. If you harbour the aspiration to become a Nyay Yoddha, give a missed call at 9891802024.”
