On January 27, the Congress Party launched the ‘Donate for Nyay’ crowdfunding campaign as part of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. Under this initiative, individuals can donate to the party for every kilometer of the Yatra and receive a signed letter from Rahul Gandhi and other tokens of appreciation. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh and Congress Treasurer Ajay Maken announced the campaign during a press conference at the AICC headquarters.
What is the ‘Donate for Nyay’ Campaign?
Congress Treasurer Ajay Maken explained that the campaign aims to inspire people rather than merely collect funds. Participants can donate to the party for every kilometer of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.
Donors will receive tokens of appreciation from the Congress Party, including a personally signed letter from Rahul Gandhi and certificates. Additional gifts are provided based on the amount donated per kilometer. For instance,
The party has set up a dedicated website for donations. Supporters will get various options for donation on the website ranging from 1 paisa per kilometer to ₹100 per kilometer. Supporters are free to donate whatever amount they can contribute.
Current Donation Figures
In the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra,’ supporters are becoming Yoddha for this Nyay Yatra and contributing generously to the Congress. Within two hours of the launch of the ‘Donate for Nyay’ campaign, more than ₹2 crores were donated by Congress workers and since has been taken up by ordinary citizens. Many individuals donated amounts ranging from ₹20 per kilometer to ₹100 per kilometer to Rahul Gandhi. This ranged from ₹1 lakh 34 thousand to as much as ₹6 lakh 70 thousand.
The ‘Donate for Nyay’ campaign has received approximately ₹4 crore in donations for the Congress Party in just four days. The rapid accumulation indicates the Congress’s growing grassroots support. People are rallying behind Rahul Gandhi in the fight to uphold constitutional values and safeguard democracy.
Haryana leads in donations with contributions exceeding ₹66 lakhs, followed by Rajasthan with donations surpassing ₹48 lakhs. Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh also rank among the top contributors.
In terms of contribution percentage, Uttar Pradesh leads the way, followed by Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh.
The donation statistics on the ‘Donate for Nyay’ website highlight that individuals from various backgrounds are stepping forward to support the vision of India built on Nyay. Whether rich or poor, everyone is contributing according to their means. The website also features a ‘Referred by’ column where individuals motivating others to donate can provide their phone numbers. The names of the top five referrers will be honored on the website, recognising those who have played a significant role in encouraging contributions.
