Rahul Gandhi: We Will Reinstate The Land Acquisition Bill

Today was the 34th day of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra. The Yatra started from the Congress office in the historic city of Sasaram in Bihar. From here, the Yatra headed towards Rohtas district. Sasaram is the political home of Shri Babu Jagjivan Ram, a significant figure in India’s independence struggle. Babu Jagjivan Ram was not only an outstanding parliamentarian but also a champion of social justice. He served as a Member of Parliament from Sasaram for eight terms. He was not only a prominent politician and nation-builder but also served as a Cabinet Minister in the Union Government for a record 29 years.

One notable aspect of the yatra was the participation of Tejashwi Yadav, the leader of the main opposition party in Bihar and former Deputy CM of Bihar, along with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. Tejashwi Yadav, driving the jeep as Rahul Gandhi’s companion, demonstrated the strength of the INDIA Alliance in Bihar. In Rohtas, a grand farmers’ nyay panchayat was organized, and attended by eminent leaders like Tejashwi Yadav, Rahul Gandhi, and Meira Kumar.

Farmers in the region came forward to express their concerns and difficulties. After listening to the people’s grievances, Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi addressed the gathering. Tejashwi Yadav launched a scathing attack on Bihar’s Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who switched sides from the Grand Alliance to the BJP, breaking ties with the INDIA Alliance.

Tejashwi emphasized, ‘It is clear that farmers should get MSP. Nothing less than that is acceptable. Modi ji practices politics of hatred and spreads lies. We have said before that Modi ji has a factory for telling lies. We want development not only for the last person in society but also economic justice. We will work to eliminate poverty.’

After Tejashwi Yadav, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed the crowd, expressing his intentions after the victory of the Congress party and the India Alliance in the parliamentary elections.

Gandhi said, ‘What we call Mother India, what the farmers call their mother, their land, is being encroached upon. Your land is being taken away without fair compensation. We will bring a law to protect your land. Under the Land Acquisition Bill, you should have received four times the market value for your land, and your land should not have been taken without your consent. This law was made for you, the farmers, and Narendra Modi ji has canceled that law. When the INDIA Alliance government comes, we will reinstate this law, and you will receive the compensation you deserve for your land. You mentioned circle rates, our government will set the circle rates for you.’

Following this, the yatra proceeded to Mohania, Kaimur, where arrangements for an afternoon break were made. In the afternoon, Congress General Secretary Mr. Jairam Ramesh addressed the reporters. In his speech, he also criticized the policies of the central government. He mentioned that, ‘while repealing the black laws, the government had made promises to the farmers. The MSP would be determined correctly, MSP would be given legal status, and based on the formula of Dr. Swaminathan, MSP would be fixed at one and a half times the cost of farming. Despite the central government awarding Bharat Ratna to Chaudhary Charan Singh and Dr. Swaminathan, their vision is still being ignored.

‘Bihar was the first state and remains the only state where the law of the mandi was abolished. The APMC Act was repealed in 2006. Its biggest impact is that farmers in Bihar are getting prices lower than MSP.’

Around the afternoon break, Congress party treasurer Mr. Ajay Maken revealed the unethical policies of the central government. Mr. Maken disclosed that without informing the party, the party’s accounts had been frozen. He stated, ‘Yesterday we learned that the cheques we are issuing, the banks are not honoring those cheques. When we investigated further, we were told that all accounts of the country’s main opposition party had been frozen. A blockade has been imposed on the accounts of the Congress party. In our country, a blockade has been imposed on democracy, not on Congress party accounts.’

The media, which usually ignores Congress party news, also picked up this story. Eventually, the accounts were reinstated after some intervention. The evidence of how much the central government, especially Narendra Modi, fears the Congress party and Rahul Gandhi, has now come before the entire country.

After the afternoon break, in Dhaneccha, Kaimur, former Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar Tejashwi Yadav, and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed the public and strongly criticized the central government. The joint rally is quite a statement and a strong sign that the INDIA coalition continues to stand firm in Bihar.

Tejashwi Yadav said, ‘On one hand, there is the force that wants to break India, and on the other hand, there is the force that wants to unite India. On the one hand, the politics of hatred is being played, and on the other hand, the talk of love is being discussed. Now you have to decide whose side you are on. Whether you are a farmer, a youth, or poor, everyone is troubled by Modi’s rule.’

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi also addressed the gathering and once again discussed the need for Nyay for the people. Mr. Gandhi said, ‘This fight is against injustice. Today, two to three billionaires in India are benefiting completely. Farmers, laborers, and youth are being suppressed, their attention is being diverted. Their future is being taken away from them. Tejashwi Ji talked about employment. He tried to fill the government jobs in Bihar. When the government of INDIA comes, we will fill all the government vacancies in the entire country.’

From here, the yatra moved towards the Bihar-Uttar Pradesh border. In Chandauli district, the Pradesh Congress presidents of both states completed the flag handover process. Mr. Gandhi addressed the thousands of people present there. He thanked them for showering so much love on the journey and once again called for taking this fight for nyay to its conclusion.

Some people had started making claims that the popularity of Congress is declining in Uttar Pradesh. However, the crowd present in Chandauli put a lid on all such speculations. The gathering of thousands indicates that the image of the Congress party and its leader still resides in the people’s hearts. After the flag transfer, the Yatra convoy set off towards the camp for the night’s rest.

“Any individual in the country who feels subjected to injustice, experiencing any form of unfair treatment, holds the potential to transform into a Nyay Yoddha. If you harbour the aspiration to become a Nyay Yoddha, give a missed call at 9891802024.”
